Fine Craftsmanship & Audio Excellence by Pioneers

DS Audio, a division of Japan’s Digital Stream Corporation founded by engineer Tetsuaki Aoyagi, revived a concept that had almost disappeared from audio: the optical phono cartridge.

Instead of magnets and coils, a DS Audio cartridge reads the stylus movement with light, using a tiny shaded plate on the cantilever to modulate a beam that is converted directly into the musical signal.

Why we are enthusiastic about DS Audio

For us, DS Audio represents a rare example of genuine innovation in analogue playback. When properly set up, these cartridges can reveal a level of transparency and immediacy that makes even familiar records feel newly discovered.
