Founded by James Edward Sugden in 1967, Sugden Audio emerged from Research Electronics, a company renowned for manufacturing scientific instruments and test equipment for universities. With a foundation in precision engineering and a passion for music, Sugden Audio introduced their first amplifier, the A21. Initially branded for the prominent local loudspeaker company Richard Allan, the A21 was the world’s first production pure class A transistor amplifier and quickly became a great success.
