Sugden: Precision Engineering Meets Passion for Music

Sugden is a British manufacturer founded in 1967 in West Yorkshire and widely regarded as a pioneer of pure Class-A solid-state amplification. That same year the company introduced the A21 integrated amplifier, one of the first commercially available Class-A transistor amplifiers.

Since then Sugden has remained committed to this demanding amplifier topology. Class-A operation requires careful thermal management and substantial power reserves, but it allows the amplifier to operate in its most linear region, avoiding the switching distortions typical of other designs.

Why we are enthusiastic about Sugden

Sugden represents a rare continuity in amplifier design. For decades the company has refined the same Class-A principles rather than chasing new trends.
