Takatsuki Electric Industry is a Japanese manufacturer based in Kyoto, with roots going back to 1957 when the company began producing and assembling vacuum tubes for major Japanese electronics manufacturers. After decades of experience in electronic components and manufacturing, Takatsuki returned to vacuum tubes in 2008, beginning the development of new Japanese-made audio tubes.
The TA-300B was introduced in 2010, marking the return of domestically produced Japanese audio vacuum tubes after production had ceased in Japan. It was followed by the TA-274B in 2012 and the TA-2A3 in 2022. Takatsuki produces its tubes in its own Japanese facilities, combining its experience in vacuum-tube manufacturing with its broader expertise in precision production and quality control.
Why we are enthusiastic about Takatsuki
Takatsuki occupies a rather unique position in modern audio. While the company’s name may be relatively new to many audiophiles, its history goes back to the early years of Japanese vacuum-tube production. The decision to restart the production of audio tubes in Japan, beginning with the 300B, was a substantial undertaking.
We particularly appreciate Takatsuki’s focus on doing things properly at the manufacturing level. The company develops and produces its tubes in Japan, with a high degree of control over the production process and the components used. For owners of 300B and 2A3 amplifiers, Takatsuki offers the opportunity to use newly manufactured Japanese tubes based on technologies that have played an important role in the history of valve amplification.
