The Takatsuki TA-274A is a directly heated twin-diode rectifier tube based on the TA-274B. Its principal distinction is the use of a 4-pin UX base, allowing it to be used in amplifiers equipped with the corresponding UX socket.

The TA-274A was developed as a version of the 274B intended for equipment using the older 4-pin UX connection. This makes it suitable for certain vintage and historically styled amplifier designs, including equipment originally designed around 274B-type rectifiers with a UX socket.

Characteristics

  • Model: TA-274A

  • Tube type: Directly heated twin diode

  • Application: Rectifier

  • Base: 4-pin UX

  • Filament voltage: 5 V

  • Filament current: 2 A

  • Filament supply: AC

  • Maximum plate voltage: 660 V RMS per plate

  • Maximum DC output current: 225 mA

  • Maximum transient current: 2.5 A for up to 20 ms

  • Peak plate current: 700 mA per plate

The electrical ratings correspond to the TA-274B specification. The principal difference between the TA-274A and TA-274B is the base configuration: the TA-274A uses a 4-pin UX base for amplifiers designed around that socket.

Construction

The TA-274A follows the same general Takatsuki approach to component selection, tube assembly, vacuum processing and quality control used for its audio vacuum-tube production. Its defining physical difference is the 4-pin UX base.

The model is produced on a build-to-order basis.
