The TA-2A3 is a directly heated triode designed for audio output-stage applications. Like other 2A3 tubes, its filament also serves as the cathode. The tube uses an ST-type glass envelope and operates with a 2.5 V / 2.5 A filament supply.

The TA-2A3 is a directly heated triode designed for audio output-stage applications. Like other 2A3 tubes, its filament also serves as the cathode. The tube uses an ST-type glass envelope and operates with a 2.5 V / 2.5 A filament supply.

The maximum plate voltage is 300 V and maximum plate dissipation is 15 W. A representative operating point is 250 V plate voltage, −45 V grid voltage and 60 mA plate current. Actual operating conditions depend on the design of the amplifier in which the tube is used.

Construction

The TA-2A3 is manufactured and assembled in Japan, with approximately 90% of its components manufactured in Japan. Glass processing and tube assembly are carried out at Takatsuki's own production facility.

The glass envelope is made from lead-free Kovar glass and is approximately 1.0 mm thick. The glass is formed in-house, with controlled dimensions and wall thickness.

The plate is made from a three-layer clad material that is laminated and subsequently formed using dedicated tooling. The filament core is produced from high-purity nickel material selected for vacuum-tube applications.

The grid is manufactured from tungsten wire. The wire is die-drawn to a diameter tolerance of ±1 μm or less and subsequently gold plated.

The internal structure also incorporates tungsten support springs and dedicated mica components. Individual components are inspected during production, followed by inspection and measurement of the completed tube.

Each tube is assigned production information for traceability, allowing manufacturing details and materials to be identified when required.
