We have been down a lot of blind alleys with R&D over the years and those “failed” projects were “buried”. (Always learnt something so the word fail is a bit harsh). Some materials and approaches in this cable have been “resurrected” and repurposed from one such blind alley from 4-5 years ago in a way that had not considered. So, it is in part the “ghost” of an abandoned project we had buried.

Also in a very real way, the phrase highlights the human tendency to strive for perfection, a concept central to Plato’s philosophy. “Plato’s ghost” can represent the persistent drive towards an ideal, even if that ideal is unattainable. A goal for all audio reproduction though.
