Different stylus tips create unique sounds

- MP-MONO: Equipped as standard with a 0.7 mil stylus tip optimized for modern record cutting. Delivers clear, well-defined sound images and high-resolution playback.
- MP-MONO 1.0E: Equipped as standard with a 1.0 mil stylus tip, which was the mainstream for mono playback of 1940s and 1950s. This model reproduces rich mid-low range tones and a sense of air, pursuing a more authentic mono experience.

To commemorate our 85th anniversary, following the release of the new MP-type cartridge "MP-700," Nagaoka released the "MP-MONO 1.0E" cartridge, equipped with a 1.0 mil replacement stylus (JN-PMONO 1.0E), in response to many requests since the release of the "MP-MONO," the Analog Grand Prix 2025 award-winning cartridge, released in May 2024.

In addition, to enable playback of SP records using the MP-MONO cartridge, we also released two replacement styli with different stylus tip sizes: the "JN-PSP 3.0" and "JN-PSP 3.5." The styli have tip sizes of 3.0 mil and 3.5 mil, respectively.

Our flagship product, the Nagaoka MP Series (Moving Permalloy), is characterized by a lighter piece of iron (Permalloy) attached to the cantilever compared to the general MM type (Moving Magnet), which allows for greater freedom of movement of the needle and enables the reproduction of wide-band and delicate sound. We offer a wide range of products, from high-end models to entry-level models.

To maximize the powerful sound image and sense of space inherent in mono records, we recommend playing them with a cartridge designed specifically for mono or SP playback.

The "MP-MONO 1.0E" is a product that focuses on the sound field and atmosphere of the time and uses 1.0 mil to pursue a more authentic mono experience.

In addition, the SP replacement stylus "JN-PSP 3.0" delivers high-quality sound reproduction that paints a picture-perfect scene, while the "JN-PSP 3.5" delivers a warm sound that evokes the era.
