There are many variations of MM cartridges, but the MM input of phono stage amplifiers typically has a fixed 47kΩ load impedance and fixed load capacitance. In these cases, vintage MM cartridges, monaural MM cartridges, and high output level MC cartridges may not be a good fit, often resulting in peaky highs and rough sound. The MM Expander AFE-10 can adjust the appropriate load impedance and capacitance to bring out the potential performance of these cartridges.
At the 47kΩ, 0pF position, the signal is bypassed. The AFE-10 does not require a power supply.
