The Aurorasound VIDA Supreme Phono Stage is the reference phono preamplifier from the Japanese manufacturer Aurorasound, developed by designer Shinobu Karaki. It is built around an LCR-type equalization network, a topology valued in high-end analog reproduction for its precise RIAA accuracy and low distortion. The circuit uses discrete transistor and FET amplifier modules, while the RIAA network employs a custom choke transformer developed with Lundahl Transformers. The design also separates the power supply in a dedicated external chassis to reduce electrical noise and improve stability.
The VIDA Supreme is designed to accommodate a wide range of cartridges and systems. It supports both MM and MC cartridges with selectable gain and loading, and offers balanced and unbalanced connections for integration with modern high-end systems. Modular plug-in cards allow additional cartridge matching or specialized functions, while practical features such as stereo/mono switching, cartridge demagnetization, a subsonic filter and protective auto-muting make it adaptable for serious vinyl playback. Measured performance includes very low distortion (around 0.008%) and accurate RIAA equalization within ±0.25 dB.
